Learn How to learn

Learning is not memorizing but understanding. Objective reading and selective learning are the two important strategies that make your learning effort a sure winning shot. In academic learning one should be very choosy to what to learn and what not. The following clues may help you to become a successful learner.
1. Read the passage twice. A quick reading (scanning) to get the main idea in the passage. And second reading to note the important points.
2. Re-write the passage in your own sentences. If you are comfortable with author’s language itself you may learn as it is. It makes easy to remember
3. Once your own sentences are structured by-heart it for quick retrieval.
4. Link or associate your new learning with your existing knowledge some way of other
5. Do not guess meaning of words. Check with your dictionary and learn the exact meanings.
6. Power of our memory is assessed in terms of three processes such as recording, remembering and retrieving. But recording is the most important. If you are recorded a message in your memory properly, you won’t find it difficult to remember and retrieve.
7. Skip portions that are either confusing or ambiguous
8. Can remember points through forming words by taking first letters of each points
9. Learn in a logical order
10. Test and refresh your knowledge periodically. Speaking to a voice recorder and playing it back will bring sea changes into your learning process.
